If you have been around for a while you might remember the days when kids first started to color their adidas sneakers in the late 70’s.
adidas jumped on that trend; even before guerilla marketing’s official birthday. They made a shoe in white and sold markers in the shoe stores to go with it. Since this is the big retro century now, this shoe is hitting the stores again.
adidas came up with a clever little play:
They put up banners all over Berlin with nothing else but a small Adidas logo and a little quote on it. The remainder was left blank.
Soon after the banners were posted, some German hoodlums (adidas employees???) put Graffiti all over those nice and clean banners (why does that never happen to any iPod or other Apple product banners?).
Adidas put another banner on top of the original one; this time combining the adicolor shoe with the graffiti that was sprayed on the blank banner.

Definitely a nice idea to show what can be done with the product. Will half of Germany start wearing adicolor shoes now? We seriously doubt that. But they got their point across.
All you need to do is to print out a sheet, color it and send it back to them. The winner gets a 10,000SEK (~ $1,300 US) gift card for an Adidas store in Stockholm. That’s should fill a shopping bag or two and get’s you the right World Cup gear; unless you are one of those occasional Brazilian supporters.
Unfortunately I don’t happen to know of any Nikecolor competition right now.
