Deja vu – Mr. Kevin alone at home is haunting me

May 25th, 2006 | by Klaus Holzapfel |

For soccer fans only:

Here I am preparing for the World Cup. Today’s schedule included a 5 mile run in Manhattan Beach. I am dressed to the occasion with my German national team jersey (even though it is the jinxed 98 loser-edition).

There comes my déjà vu of the day: A guy wearing a shirt from VFB Stuttgart with the number 22 and the name Kuranyi on it. How depressing. I figured that the poor guy was mourning. I almost wanted to hug him.

First Kevin Kuranyi leaves Stuttgart (bad career move in my eyes) and now he gets booted in the very last minute of the German squad. At least he is not forgotten in Klinsiland. Kevin you are reading this, correct?

Notes:
1. I only ran into 2 people during my entire run. The 2nd person was not dressed in soccer uniform.

2. My jersey was a present. I received it the day Germany lost against Bulgaria in 1998. Thanks Letsche. No worries: I won’t wear it during matches of the German team.

Done with superstition and déjà vu for the day. Back to work.
